Hola Amigos!

I am in the process of turning my hobby of baking into a business. It is hard work! My mom is doing most of the heavy lifting on this. She’s doing my website, my photos, etc. Thank you mom! I love you!!

I also wanted to use this space to highlight the rest of my “team” as well. While I am the face of this business, there are sooo many people behind the scenes helping to lift me up, and I want to use this space to shout them out!

First off, my family!

Like I said, my mom (Shannon Winston) is handling the technology side, but she also helps me in the kitchen a lot as well.

Also my grandmother (Betty Winston) and my aunt (Jacquelyn “Nikki” Winston) both help me with the baking when we have large events/orders. My aunt also handles the business/paperwork side of things as well.

While I started learning to cook and bake from my mom (and grandma) I also had hands on help along the way. I took classes with Taneka Weldon, owner of Whimsy Cakes Bakery, a wonderful cake artist and pasty chef. During my time acting as a Kid ambassador for Every Kid Can Cook run by Kim Young of Healthy Little Cooks, I was able to hone my savory side skills working with self-taught chef Kiah Gibian, owner of Wilde Thyme Food Truck. Kim, Tankea, and Kiah have all been instrumental in my journey to get to where I am and I thank them dearly!

Next, I have to give a BIG, HUGE shout out to Heber Brown III, Pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church and Founder of the Black Church Food Security Network and Orita’s Cross Freedom School. Really all the teachers and guest presenters from Oritas Cross, because it was during Oritas cross Freedom School where the seed starting a business was planted for me. At the time I did not know what I would do, but in time, cooking and baking really started to stand out as that thing. Pastor Brown was instrumental in giving me my first platform to sell my baked goods to the public during the Soil to Sanctuary market through the Food Security Network. All of these things and people brought me to this place.

I am grateful! I don’t know if I left anyone out. If I did, know is not my heart but my head that is to blame.
